Abstract
Reliability is a key issue for the industrial application of advanced ceramic materials. It comprises topics like damage mechanisms, fracture modes and deterioration of properties but also appropriate testing and design methods, availability of design relevant materials data or stability of processing routes.
This symposium focuses on the mechanical aspects of ceramic components reliability and especially considers the increasing significance of the mechanical reliability for functional ceramic components.
