Abstract
In this Mini-Symposium the effects of uncertainties in material, load and geometrical properties on the response quantities are taken into account. This randomness affects crack initiation, crack propagation, fatigue life and other important parameters in analysis and design of structural components.
This way the safety factors as used in design can be quantified and directly related to reliability estimates.
