Museums
Turin has a museum heritage of great wealth and importance that is testimony to the fundamental cultural role played by the city in the past, but also in the present: besides the collections of old and modern art it is, in fact, an important centre for contemporary art.
Turin has more than 40 museums, among which the following are the most important.

The Egyptian Museum
It’s the most important collection in the world after the one in Cairo. It documents the history and civilisation of ancient Egypt and contains about 30,000 exhibits - artefacts, papyri and funeral caskets. Among these is the exceptional rock of Ellesjia, the intact tomb of Kha and Merit and the imposing statues of Ramses Il, Thutmoses I, Tutanchamon.

The Galleria Sabauda
It’s one of the most important picture galleries in Italy. It was established by King Carlo Alberto in 1832 and contains both Flemish and Italian works of art, originating largely from the old Savoy painting collections (Gaudenzio Ferrari, Beato Angelico, Giovanni Bellini, Guercino, Franceso Cairo, Titian, Orazio Gentileschi, Van Eyck, Memling, Rembrant, Jan Brueghel...).
